DAY 13 WEDNESDAY

Not too far to go but hard work...
All we can see is complete flat whiteness. It was really foggy until 30 minutes ago now it’s really clear. The sun is shining across an eternity of white waves. The snow has drifted and settled in lots of patterns – the snow waves called SASTRUGI are 60 – 70 cm high and fall across our path making it difficult to ski. The 1st half of the day was really tough it was snowy and blowy then the snow became sticky – the sun came out and it was so hot we ended up in just thermals and outer layers. The heat made the snow fall off our ski’s –we still couldn’t glide but it wasn’t as bad.

We have done 26 miles today up and down hill! We have re-assessed our rations and have plenty so we are going to have a feast tonight and drink loads as we need to hydrate properly.

It’s really beautiful, the sun is now setting and it is turning cold so I’m going to get back in the tent now.
